SWIMMING POOL IN AN OLD TOWN HOUSE
The project aimed to transform the 140m2 underground of the old town house located in the Old Town of Cracow into a recreational area. The functional design for this particular basement has created both a large leisure zone featuring a domestic cinema system, billiard/table tennis (optional) room and a pool zone with proper facilities. The spacious billiard/table tennis room with the living space are connected to the pool, and at the same time separated from it, by a small counter bar with a kitchenette annex and a wall with shelving for wine. The adjacent pool zone features a resting spot with Jacuzzi as well as sauna, shower, and toilet units. There is a small changing room here, too. To preserve the soul of this original ancient underground the project has salvaged the old stone-brick texture of the walls and restored the existing historical portal. The overall style line of this underground interior, however, tries to balance the old and historical feel with the modern simplicity. The modern decorative wall mosaics inspired by Michał Świder’s paintings not only add warmth to the place but also strengthen its unique atmosphere; through their themes the two zones are apparently connected.
